When I Drive Myself
Music, designing jewelry, or creating anything are all connected for me. Music is always on when I sit at my desk to sketch out a new piece. And the choice of music totally depends on what I’m working on.
If I’m just riffing, not having a specific design in mind, or haven’t written out a workflow (specific commands in the CAD program I use to design) for a specific piece, I usually listen to anything by Keith Jarrett — especially The Koln Concert Live.
If I’m creating multiple sizes of the same design (like a cuff bracelet), then it’s always the Trouble Man Soundtrack by Marvin Gaye or anything by the cellist Zoe Keating.
If I’m working on my website, adding new content or writing a blog post, then it’s Jazz, R&B, Pop or Classic Rock from Apple Music.
The Incubus video has stayed with me for a long time. The visual is so powerful. You can draw yourself and life any way you want.
Like a few times before, I’ve forgotten who I Am, and that I’m quite capable to drive myself, creating whatever life I want.
Here is the finished Drive Pendant that I was inspired to create from this blog post.
